Welcome to Hydrated Humans.
It’s a look at how people in Trevi’s community fuel performance, build routines, and show up fully in life.
Meet Emily Marks, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy student finishing her final semester at USC. Between early mornings at her neurorehabilitation clinical site, workouts, classes, and content creation, Emily’s days are full—and every hour counts.
What drew Emily to occupational therapy is its holistic approach to helping people regain independence and reconnect with the activities that matter most to them. Whether recovery involves physical, cognitive, emotional, or environmental challenges, OT is about expanding what people believe is possible after life-changing diagnoses.

For Emily, hydration is a small but important part of staying energized through long clinic days and post-run recovery. Trevi fits right into the rhythm—simple, convenient, and a little reward after putting in the work.
As she prepares to graduate and begin her career as an occupational therapist, Emily is motivated by one thing: using what she’s learned to make the world more accessible and supportive for people of all abilities.

What are you studying, and what does a typical day look like for you right now?
My I am pursuing my Doctorate of Occupational Therapy and am graduating this summer! Currently, I am doing part-time clinicals and part-time class. On a typical Monday, you can find me clocked into my clinical site at an outpatient neurorehabilitation center from 8:30–12:30, working out from 1–3, getting ready for class from 3–4:30, and having class from 4:30–7:30.
What inspired you to pursue occupational therapy?
One of the biggest reasons I decided to pursue occupational therapy is that it is a profession that takes a holistic approach to rehabilitation. OTs are skilled in taking a comprehensive look at why someone is not engaging in the activities that are meaningful to them, whether that be because of physical, cognitive, emotional, social, or environmental reasons. I love that OTs can work with people of all abilities and rewrite the limits of what people think they are able to do, especially after a life-changing diagnosis.
Why Others Taste Like Saltwater
What’s the most challenging part of this season of school?
The most challenging part of this season of school is time management. As a student and content creator, there is always something that I “could” be working on at all times. I strive to create quality output, while also making sure that I am blocking out the time needed to engage in the habits that keep me well, such as exercising, eating healthy, and spending time with the people I love.
What’s something people might not realize about OT school or clinicals?
Something people might not realize about OT school is the importance of staying connected with professors. My professors have incredible insight into being a clinician, and are more often than not excited to share what they have learned along the way when it comes to navigating the OT landscape post-grad.
When during your day do you feel like you need hydration the most?
I feel like I need hydration most after I run! Trevi is like a yummy reward for me after my workouts, and I always look forward to it.
How does Trevi help hydrate your day?
As a busy grad student, Trevi is extremely convenient and effective at hydrating me throughout the day. Especially when I am at clinicals, it is hard to keep up with my hydration when seeing patients and squeezing in documentation. Trevi is a nice option to have on the days where I feel like my hydration habits were not as great.
What motivates you to keep going during busy or stressful weeks?
What motivates me to keep going is knowing that the knowledge I am acquiring and the work I put out into the world is meant to make people’s lives better. That alone is usually enough to push me through.
What are you most excited about after graduation?
I am most excited to completely take charge of my OT career. I am definitely looking forward to working face-to-face with patients, but I am also excited for how far I can get with making the world a more accessible place for people of all disabilities, starting with applying my “OT lens” to that of community mobility apps.
