What drew you to running?
My mom was always a runner, and my older brother ran track in high school as well. When I didn’t make the lacrosse team in seventh grade, I joined track since it was a sport that welcomed everyone. I grew up swimming, but after burning out in high school, I decided to try cross country my junior year. That’s when I fully became a runner—and I’ve never looked back.
What keeps you coming back on the hard days - when motivation isn't there?
I am extremely dedicated to the sport and deeply motivated to reach my full potential. I know what I am capable of, but I can only achieve those goals by working hard every day. Running has changed my life, giving me so many opportunities, and I am incredibly grateful that it is something I get to do, not something I have to do. Remembering this is “the why”.
Why Others Taste Like Saltwater
What's one non-negotiable part of your daily routine right now?
Getting enough sleep is crucial. If I don’t sleep well or long enough, I do my best to find time for a nap. Recovering my body is essential, and it simply can’t happen without proper sleep.
When did you realize hydration actually mattered for your performance?
This summer, I began focusing more on nutrition and properly fueling my body. Along with fueling comes hydration, which plays a major role in recovery, muscle soreness, and overall performance. Because of its many benefits, hydration became something I knew I needed to prioritize to be successful in the sport.
When does Trevi fit into your day right now?
I typically have a Trevi with dinner, which is soon after my runs. Since we usually practice in the afternoon, having a Trevi shortly after a workout is the best time for me to replenish electrolytes—and it’s also a great way to end the night.
Where are the 3 places you enjoy running the most?
This is a hot take but I have currently been loving running on the treadmill. I am from Buffalo so the weather has been too severe to get quality runs done outside.
I also love running around the Penn State campus.
This summer I lived in Pittsburgh for an internship and I fell in love with running around the city there as well!
What’s something people don't see about being a collegiate runner?
One thing people don’t see about being a collegiate runner is how much discipline and balance it takes off the track. The workouts are just one part of it—there’s also prioritizing sleep, nutrition, recovery, academics, and time management every single day. A lot of sacrifices happen behind the scenes, but it’s all driven by a genuine love for the sport and the commitment to be better than you were the day before.
What are you chasing right now - on or off the track?
I have many big goals on the track, all of which start with continuing to love the sport and remain grateful for everything it has done—and continues to do—for me. Off the track, I dedicate a lot of my time to social media and growing my account, which serves as both my creative outlet and a personal passion. In addition, I am completing a graduate certificate from Penn State, and I am working hard to succeed in that as well.
